Our Story
Aluminum casting ingots, these ingots are recycled from automotive power train castings, primarily engine and transmission casings , this provides an ingot that is very close to 356 alloy. They are poured with a tilting furnace for melting. This is the same Aluminum that I use in my own castings for machining etc. These ingots are sized to fit in the USPS Flat-rate mailer boxes for the best cost to you. Shipping on small orders can be as high as $1.00 per lb so I have set the order sizes to get the most reasonable shipping, Each package has a scale photo that shows a net weight with other casting information.
Our Journey
2012
Launched Aluminum Casting Materials to fill the gap for high quality, accessible aluminum ingots for small-scale foundries and makers. Furnace capacity was 80 lbs per week
2015
We restricted the scrap used to automotive power train components. We developed the name “NEAR 356” so that our customers new that they were receiving a true casting grade aluminum ingot. We upgraded the furnace size to melt 180 lbs per week
2020
We built a furnace that would be able to operate at the maximum capacity for a one man operation. Possible production went from 180lb per week to 2400 lb per week.
2026
Brought on Steve as a partner to handle the furnace operation and increase productivity. We built a new furnace with computerized control to provide more stable furnace operation and higher quality ingots. . Opening this website and set pricing at a more competitive position then we were able to do with EBay, allowing us to better serve our many repeat customers, hobbyists and small foundries than ever before.
